We’ve released a new DVD that combines our 1976 film, Ten Times Empty with extra images and sounds of Symi, an idyllic small Aegean island that was facing change in the mid 1970s.
In 1976 the barren, sundrenched Greek island of Symi has two resources: the surrounding sea and the legacy of a richer past. Life centres on the small township set around a deep natural harbour where the cafes are exclusively filled with men.

Thank you for your feedback on SYMI1976. It is especially pleasing to hear from people who recognise some of the characters in the film; Mayor Angelides, Father Tsingos, Kyriacos, Vassillis, the fishermen, the school teachers….. Sadly some of them have passed away. The school children in the film are now in their forties(!) and the adults are in their 60′s and 70′s! We will be very pleased to hear from relatives or friends of the people who appeared in the film, “Ten Times Empty” – and where they are now.
Ian James Wilson and John Tristram
